Posada Celebration 202o

We are so thrilled to have witnessed the amazing outcome of this year's [virtual] "Posada" celebration.  Unlike other years, this year we were not able to share this special and significant day with the children of the community.  Aware of the extraordinary situation we have lived through this year, we decided to not cancel our annual event, but to adjust it to fit the norms set by the state.  We believe that now specially we must stay resilient and united.  It is in harder times that we must lend a hand to our neighbors and aim for smiles from those more affected.

With that belief in mind this year we organized a [virtual] toy drive with the "posada" spirit for the children of Yonkers whose parents were deported or are in the process of being deported as a result of the "zero tolerance" policy that prosecuted immigrants who crossed the border illegally.

Each children was partnered with a "Mariposa Godparent" who donated a gift that was later delivered by our staff and volunteers on December 19th.

Posada: Mexican celebration of the unity between family members and friends who want to share their happiness and what they are thankful for before the Christmas celebrations.
