Who we are
Proyecto Mariposa imagines the day when being an immigrant is no longer a barrier holding any person back from reaching their full potential.
Founded by three Mexican women living in New York City.
Our purpose is to alleviate the weight of integrating into a new culture.
From fundraising to volunteering or partnering with other charity associations, it is our hope to facilitate different ways in which one can provide aid, support, and get involved.
We build ties between other associations and the newcomers* themselves.
Like the butterfly in our logo, immigrants are forced to abandon
their homes due to corruption, violence and poverty.
Then embark on a grueling journey in search of a better life and
starting that new life, especially in a foreign land, is just as hard as the expedition itself.
Love begets love.
When we uplift another, we create a butterfly effect of change,
resulting in limitless possibilities over time.
